'Armed, dangerous': Ex-vice mayor of town in Bulacan resists arrest

A former vice mayor of a town in Bulacan resisted arrest and locked himself up in his house as police serving a warrant for his arrest negotiated for his peaceful surrender early Friday morning.

Super Radyo dzBB's Rod Vega reported that former Marilao, Bulacan Vice Mayor Andre Santos locked himself up on the second floor of his house in Barangay Poblacion when cops came to serve an arrest warrant for his qualified theft case.

Marilao Police chief Ricardo Pangan was quoted in the report as saying that Santos threatened to resist if cops would insist on arresting him.

Santos told the police that he is armed with a handgun and a grenade, the report said.

Pangan said maximum tolerance is being enforced while negotiation for Santos' surrender is ongoing.

But the police warned the people and authorities involved in the negotiation that Santos is "armed and dangerous."

Earlier, Santos denied claims that he is still involved in drug abuse, saying that he used to be into drugs but he had stopped a long time ago.

As of posting time, negotiation for Santos' surrender was ongoing. —LBG, GMA News
