Grenade lobbed at Cotabato high school as BOL plebiscite starts


A grenade was lobbed at the entrance of a high school in Cotabato City on Monday just as the plebiscite for the Bangsamoro Organic Law started.

Operatives of the Philippine National Police-Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit quickly went to the Cotabato City National High School-Rojas Site in Bagua, Cotabato City to investigate.

The grenade was discovered by Marby Magbanua 100 meters away from the school, according to a report on GMA News TV's Balitanghali by Ian Cruz.

The EOD personnel were able to detonate the grenade.

Despite the bomb threat, voters continued to flock to the polling precincts in the school to cast their votes for the BOL plebiscite.

On Sunday night, the eve of the plebiscite, two motorcycle-riding suspects lobbed grenades at the house of a Cotabato City judge. No one was hurt in the incident.
