Abu Sayyaf subgroup linked to Sulu blasts

A unit of the Abu Sayyaf Group may be behind the deadly blasts that killed at least 19 people in Sulu on Sunday, according to surveillance videos recovered by the authorities.

In a series of tweets by dzBB Super Radyo reporter Jonathan Andal, the Ajang-Ajang group of the Abu Sayyaf was pointed out to be suspected as the perpetrators.

The twin blasts that hit the Mount Carmel Cathedral in Jolo in Sulu earlier on Sunday happened after the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) was ratified, with overwhelming votes coming from the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has yet to reveal how many individuals were involved in the attack. — Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/BM, GMA News
