PNP tags NPA in killing of NDF consultant in Nueva Vizcaya

Members of the New People's Army could have been behind the assassination of National Democratic Front consultant Randy Felix Malayao, a top police official said on Wednesday.

Chief Superintendent Mario Espino, the regional director of the Philippine National Police in Cagayan Valley, said the killing could have been in connection with Malayao being a former NPA commander.

"Bilang isang mataas na CPP/NPA... dito sa region, puede rin mga kasamahan nya ang may gawa ng pamamaslang kay Malayao sa dahil sa paghina ng kanilang puwersa at demoralization sa hanay nila," Espino said.

Authorities already have possession of CCTV footage relevant to the investigation of the fatal shooting inside a bus bound for Isabela on Wednesday early morning.

A special investigation task group led by Nueva Vizcaya chief of police Senior Superintendent Jeremiah Agligub has been formed to look into the assassination. —NB, GMA News
