Gov't militiaman hurt in Maguindanao blast

A government militiaman was slightly hurt Tuesday morning when an anti-personnel mine exploded in Guindulungan, Maguindanao, the military said Wednesday.

The militiaman was conducting morning patrol when he stepped on the mine, which was placed near an old nipa hut some 50 meters away from the national highway in Sitio Pansol in Barangay Macasampen.

"The explosion was meant to inflict harm to our troops just in time they were passing to conduct their regular security in the area," said 6th Infantry Division Commander Major General Cirilito Sobejana.

The wounded CAFGU member was brought to Camp Siongco Station Hospital for medical treatment.

Troops from the 90th Infantry Battalion, together with Guindulungan Municipal Police, meanwhile, immediately responded to the scene and implemented security measures in case of more attacks. —KBK, GMA News
