3 SUSPECTS EYED

Slain Cebu teen knew her killer —police

Police are looking into three suspects in the brutal killing of 16-year-old Christine Silawan in Lapu-Lapu City in Cebu earlier this week.

"We are looking at at least three suspects," said Police Colonel Lemuel Obon, chief of Lapu-Lapu City Police, in an interview on Unang Balita on Thursday. "Nagko-corroborate po dun sa atin witness. Nag-corroborate din from other sources na independent na tatlo ang ating hinahanap."

Obon also said investigators believe the victim knew her killer.

"I think so kasi may nakuha kamin na exchange of messages na meron siyang kakatagpuin," Obon said when asked if it is possible that Silawan knew her killer.

Silawan's mutilated body was found in an open field on Monday. Her tongue was missing and the skin on her face was peeled off.

Without elaborating, Obon said the mutilation seemed "deliberate."

Obon said they believe the victim was killed somewhere else and was only dumped on the area where it was found. He said based on the autopsy, the victim was not raped.

Ibig sabihin more than two weeks na nangyari," the police official said.

Although the area where the body was found was an open field, Obon said the place was very dark at night.

—KBK, GMA News
