No casualty as of Tuesday afternoon in wake of Eastern Samar earthquake —AFP

The military has yet to receive reports of casualties after a Magnitude 6.5 earthquake hit Eastern Samar on Tuesday afternoon.

Lieutenant General Noel Clement, Commander of Armed Forces of the Philippines' Central Command, said the earthquake caused minor cracks in buildings as well as on the road along the bridge of Casoroy in San Julian, Eastern Samar.

“There is no reported casualty, save for one minor injury due to panicking,” Clement said in a statement.

One bridge near Gaisano mall in Calbayog, Samar, however, was damaged and is unpassable at the moment.

Power interruption, on the other hand, hit Borongan, Eastern Samar, as a result of the quake.

The 6.5 magnitude earthquake was the second earthquake to hit the country in two days following a 6.1 magnitude earthquake that hit Luzon on Monday afternoon.

The 6.1 earthquake left at least 16 people dead and 112 others injured, according to Health Secretary Francisco Duque III. —NB, GMA News
