3 dead, about 70 hurt in bus, truck collision in Atimonan, Quezon


Three persons were killed and about 70 persons were  injured when a bus and a cargo truck collided along Diversion Road in Barangay Sta. Catalina, Atimonan, Quezon province Monday night.

Police Chief Inspector Michael Encio, Atimonan police chief, quoted in a report by Rod Vega on Super radyo DZBB, confirmed that the driver of the truck and his assistant, and a passenger from the bus perished in the incident.

Their identities were not immediately known.   The bus belonged to AMV Travel and Tours.

An earlier report said the injured passengers were brought to the Dona Marta general Hospital and the Nuestra Senora Delos Angeles Hospital, both in Atimonan.  A succeeding report said some of the passengers have been transferred to a hospital in Lucena City.

The bus was bound for Bicol province, while the truck was headed for Manila.

Investigators are looking into the cause of the mishap. —LDF, GMA News
