Roxas bailiwick Capiz drops 6 of 8 Otso Diretso bets in May 13 polls


Six of the eight Otso Diretso bets did not get the support of most voters in Capiz, the bailiwick of former Interior Secretary Mar Roxas, in the May 13 elections.

Aside from Roxas and reelectionist senator Bam Aquino, no other Otso Diretso candidates made it to the Top 12, based on the certificate of canvass from the province.

The COC shows Roxas with 190,481 votes, followed by Senator Cynthia Villar, 177,568; Senator Grace Poe, 156,305; Aquino, 141,380; and former senator Bong Revilla Jr, 128,661.

The others who made it to the Top 12 were former senator Lito Lapid, 127,772; former special assistant to the president Bong Go, 125,679; Taguig Rep. Pia Cayetano, 122,839;  Senator Sonny Angara,116,691;  Senator Nancy Binay, 106,587; former Bureau of Corrections chief Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa, 105, 278; and Senator Koko Pimentel, 85,317.

Otso Diretso candidates Chel Diokno was on the 18th place with 59, 025 votes, followed by Gary Alejano, 57,311; and Samira Gutoc, 44133.

Former Quezon Rep. Erin Tanada, meanwhile, was on the 22nd place with 36, 263 votes; Romy Macalintal, 24th with 32,166; and Pilo Hilbay, 28th with 20, 862 votes.

Capiz has 399,815 voters who actually voted or 77.88 percent of the registered voters. It has 17 cities and municipalities. —KBK, GMA News
