NIA bars Aurora farmers from planting amid water shortage

Aurora province has also been hit by a water supply problem, even as the National Irrigation Administration has temporarily barred farmers in its two towns from cultivating their lands to prevent the shortage from worsening.

According to a report in GMA News TV's "Balitanghali" on Thursday, farmers in the towns of San Luis and Baler were not yet allowed to till their lands as the water reserve in Disalet Dam is still below the normal operating level.

The dam, located in San Luis town, provides irrigation for farmers in the two towns.

The report said farmers could expect to resume their livelihood in August or September once the water level in the dam gets replenished. — Dona Magsino/MDM, GMA News
