29 establishments damaged due to Mindanao quake


More than 20 infrastructures in Regions XI and XII were damaged following the 6.3-magnitude earthquake that struck Tulunan, North Cotabato on Wednesday night, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Thursday morning.

In its latest situation report, the NDRRMC said 29 infrastructures, which include houses, municipal hall and schools in Region XI and 14 other establishments in Region XII, were damaged.

The latest NDRRMC data also indicated that the number of wounded persons already reached 27, which include 18 individuals who were rushed to Digos City Provincial Hospital, as well as three others who were brought to Kidapawan City Hospital and six victims rushed to Makilala Medical Hospital.

In an interview on Dobol B sa News TV, NDRRMC spokesperson Mark Timbal said there was no report about any missing person following the strong earthquake.

"So far, wala pang dumadating sa atin na reports ng missing," Timbal said.

The Office of Civil Defense in Region XI vowed to closely monitor its area of responsibility particularly in Davao Del Sur and Davao City.

It was earlier disclosed that at least five persons were reported to have died following the incident.

A total of 91 aftershocks were recorded in several parts of Mindanao.

Timbal then reminded residents in the area to be extra cautious on aftershocks. "Huwag muna po sila magpapasok sa mga buildings lalo kung may nakikita pa silang pinsala," he said. —KBK, GMA News
