Quake victims in Magsaysay barangay appeal for help

Desperate for help, residents of Sitio Labidangan,  Barangay Upper Bala, in Davao Del Sur's Magsaysay town are struggling to get back on their feet after being badly hit by last Wednesday's magnitude 6.3 earthquake.

Aside from the landslides that hit their already deplorable roads, residents were still traumatized after the 51 out of the 75 houses in their sitio were badly damaged by the strong quake.

Even as a food supply shortage loomed over them, residents in the mountainous sitio are now having to also cope with a water shortage after the quake destroyed the community's three water reservoirs and landslides cut off the community’s water supply lines.

Kagawad Bernardo Colata added that the community was also alarmed with the long stretch of cracks in the ground that appeared after the tremor struck.

Barangay officials appealed to both the PHIVOLCS and the town government to inspect the area for their safety. — DVM, GMA News
