Globe sets up Libreng Tawag, Libreng Charging centers in quake-hit areas

Globe Telecom Inc. announced on Tuesday it is offering free call and charging stations for Cotabato residents in light of the 6.6-magnitude earthquake that struck the area.

The telco said it will set up “Libreng Tawag” and “Libreng Charging” centers “to help affected residents with their communication needs.”

The stations can be found in two towns near Tulunan, which PHIVOLCS said was the quake’s epicenter.

The Kidapawan station is located at the Kidapawan City Hall. It started operating on Tuesday, October 29, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

In Tulunan, the station is located at the Tulunan Municipal Hall starting Wednesday, October 30, from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Globe plans to set up more free call and charging stations “as the need arises.”

Smart Communications has yet to announce its own free call and charging centers in earthquake-hit areas.

According to state-run PHIVOLCS, the earthquake struck parts of Mindanao at around 9:04 a.m. on Tuesday.

Disaster and local officials have so far reported four casualties and hundreds of injuries, including a 23-year-old pregnant woman from Tulunan and a father and son from Arakan—Julia Mari Ornedo/VDS, GMA News
