Several buildings in Tulunan, Cotabato damaged by 6.6 quake

Several buildings in Tulunan, Cotabato—the epicenter of the 6.6-magnitude earthquake that struck parts of Mindanao on Tuesday morning—were damaged by the powerful temblor, with some even collapsing.

According to a report by John Consulta for Balitanghali, the barangay hall in Daig, Tulunan nearly collapsed but managed to stay upright.

However, the roof of the barangay's covered court caved in completely.

“‘Yung ating LGU [local government unit], we’ve been planning to put up temporary shelters as classrooms,” said Vice Mayor Maureen Villamor.

In Kidapawan, CCTV footage showed vehicles on the street swaying and toppling due to the strength of the quake.

The latest update by the national disaster council said at least 6 people have died after the earthquake while over 300 others were injured. — Julia Mari Ornedo/BM, GMA News
