Infant born before Cotabato earthquake is named ‘Magni Boy’

An infant born a few moments before the Magnitude 6 earthquake that shook Kidapawan City, Cotabato, was named ‘Magni Boy.’

His name seems to be inspired by the scientific term, "magnitude", which refers to the "maximum motion of an earthquake as recorded by a seismograph."

According to a QRT report, Magni Boy's mother underwent a caesarian operation when she gave birth.

During the earthquake, Magni Boy's mother struggled to get out of the Kidapawan Medical Specialist Center with her newly-born child, even if her wounds were still painful.

Afraid of the aftershocks, Magni Boy's mother, as well as other patients of the Kidapawan Medical Specialist Center, preferred to stay outside the hospital, where they said they felt safer. —Angelica Yang/LDF, GMA News
