Ramon causes power outage in Santa Ana, Cagayan

Power went out in Santa Ana town in Cagayan on Monday night amid the onslaught of Typhoon Ramon.

According to a report by Jun Veneracion on GMA News' Unang Balita, strong winds were being felt, especially in coastal barangays.

Santa Ana Mayor Nelson Robinion inspected his areas of responsibility as of 7 a.m. Tuesday and there were no major damages reported yet except for some dangling electrical cables.

Residents in vulnerable areas have already been evacuated by the local government and relief goods have been prepositioned.

They will be allowed to go home as soon as the inclement weather clears up, according to Robinion.

Pre-emptive evacuations have also been conducted in some flood-prone barangays of Aparri, Cagayan.

According to GMA News stringer Jerc Cinco, residents of Barangays Backiling, Binalan, Bisagu, and Navagan have transferred to safer places since Monday.

These barangays have been previously hit by Typhoon Quiel.

Meanwhile, some residents of coastal Barangay San Antonio took refuge in their barangay hall due to the rough waves that were hitting the seawall near their residences.

The mobile service of the barangay was used to safely transport the evacuees, especially those with children.

Classes in all levels have been canceled in the whole province of Cagayan due to the bad weather. â€”Dona Magsino/KG, GMA News
