2 dead in Oriental Mindoro due to Tisoy —governor


Two people were confirmed dead in the province of Oriental Mindoro due to the onslaught of Typhoon Tisoy.

The death toll was confirmed to GMA News Online by Oriental Mindoro governor Bonz Dolor on Tuesday. The two fatalities were from the municipalities of Baco and Pinamalayan.

"'Yung isa ay galing sa bayan ng Baco, nagki-clearing siya ng kanilang puno kaninang umaga tapos nabagsakan siya ng sanga. 'Yung pangalawa, nasa loob iyon ng bahay, nabagsakan ng debris, parang yero, sa Pinamalayan po," Dolor said in a phone interview.

Dolor said there is no report on injured persons as well as missing individuals in their province, which has been placed under Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 3

The governor also said power supply in the area got cut after some electric posts were damaged due to the effects of Tisoy.

Dolor said distribution of relief goods for over 20,000 evacuees is ongoing.

In its 2 p.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA said Tisoy has weakened further after it made its fourth landfall in Oriental Mindoro,

Tisoy continues to move west at 25 kilometers per hour. It added that Tisoy may leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Thursday morning, PAGASA added. — MDM, GMA News
