Family rescued from home that collapsed due to Tisoy

Three people in Legazpi City, Albay who were trapped when their home collapsed due to Typhoon Tisoy were rescued by their neighbors, according to a report by Emil Sumangil in 24 Oras on Tuesday.

Neighbours rescued siblings Gary and Elton Logronio and Gary's wife Mary Joy Tomagui, who all escaped without serious injury.

The rain brought by the typhoon continued for over 10 hours overnight in the province, causing severe damage to the area. Power was shut off at around 2 a.m. for their safety.

Even Legazpi's airport was not spared from damage. It temporarily suspended operations on Tuesday and will resume on Wednesday.

Structures in Bicol University and the Legazpi Convention Center were also damaged. Old trees uprooted by the storm as well as debris from homes littered the streets.

Despite the damage, no major casualty was recorded in the area as of Tuesday evening.

"Walang pagkain, tubig, kuryente," a resident said.

Meanwhile, a portion of a highway in Polangui was still flooded due to the rain.  Authorities are still determining the extent of damage to the area. — Joahna Lei Casilao/BM, GMA News
