Security guard tries to foil robbery at Laguna mini mart

Armed suspects stormed a Chinese mini mart in Biñan, Laguna and took the day's sales, according to a Wednesday report by John Consulta on GMA News' 24 Oras.

In a video taken from a CCTV camera, one of the masked suspects immediately pointed a gun at the security officer guarding the store.

Instead of retreating, the guard charged the robber and tried to wrestle the gun away.  The guard, however, was outnumbered when two companions of the robber came.

"May police na nag-conduct ng patrol at that time. Siguro pinalampas lang o nagkataoon lang na walang pulis doon tsaka lang sila nagkaroon ng robbery holdap doon sa isang store," Biñan City Police chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Danilo Mendoza said.

Mendoza said the police will conduct a thorough investigation on the incident and asked for cooperation from the management.

"Hindi sila nagsusumbong. . . . Nag conduct na tayo ng investigation at may mga persons of interest na rin tayo dito na baka sakali ma-solve natin itong kaso," he added.

Meanwhile, the management of the establishment did not issue any statement. —Joahna Lei Casilao/LDF, GMA News
