Over 57k residents flee to Batangas, Laguna, Cavite as Taal continues to spew ash, lava

The number of individuals staying in evacuations centers in Batangas, Cavite, and Laguna have increased to 57,286 after areas within the 14-kilometer danger zone implemented a forced evacuation.

According to Ivan Mayrina's Thursday report on 24 Oras, this is only a small portion of the  481,203 affected individuals as a lot of residents chose to stay with their relatives.

Should the Taal's volcanic activities continue, the danger zone may be extended to 17 kilometers, which will affect 931,400 individuals, according to the report.

Though the relief goods are sufficient, NDRRMC said it has yet to estimate how long they will last as displaced individuals are still increasing.

"So far the supplies of the local governments ay pasok pa rin po. —Joahna Lei Casilao/LDF, GMA News
