Taal evacuees join ‘graduation march’ to claim relief goods

Evacuees who were affected by the phreatic eruption of Taal Volcano enjoyed a lighthearted moment as they were handed relief goods.

In Nelson Canlas' Sunday report on 24 Oras Weekend, evacuees in Bauan, Batangas were handed relief packages as an announcer read out the names with a graduation hymn playing in the background.

In another video featuring evacuees from Lemery, a group of kids sang religious hymns - in good spirits despite the circumstances.

Meanwhile, a fire dancer put on a show at a Nasugbu, Batangas evacuation center in an effort to lift the mood of evacuees.

This and all the other attempts at good cheer also proved that piles of volcanic ash cannot snuff out Filipinos' resilience against calamities. — Julia Mari Ornedo/DVM, GMA News
