Three Chinese quarantined in Kalibo for suspected corona virus infection

Three Chinese citizens have been subjected to quarantine at a hospital in Kalibo, Aklan.

According to Cecille Villarosa's report on "24 Oras", the patients were subjected to close observation for the newest strain of corona virus.

The virus is part of the group of corona viruses of the severe acure respiratory syndrome which killed an estimated 800 persons between 2002 and 2003.

A 65-year-old Chinese, who was en route to Boracay, was held at the quarantine section of the Kalibo hospital after being detected with fever.

Specimens were taken from the patient for examination by the Research Institute for Tropical Medicines.

Two other Chinese were held in the area.

"'Yung first case natin was na-admit overnight kasi may lagnat siya... 'Yung pangalawa, is nung last Saturday, January 18, 3 years old siya. Outpatient din siya," Dr. Cornelio Cuachon said. —NB, GMA News
