Filipina repatriate at New Clark City referred to Bataan hospital for anxiety

A Filipina who was recently repatriated from China amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak will temporarily leave the quarantine facility in New Clark City to be referred to psychiatrists after manifesting anxiety-related symptoms.

According to Health Assistant Secretary Maria Vergeire, the repatriate, was a 25-year-old female.

"Ang mga ipinakita niya hong mga sintomas ay hindi po siya nakakatulog at medyo balisa po siya," she said at a press conference.

The patient will be referred to Bataan General Hospital and Medical Center on Friday for further evaluation and management.

Asked whether the woman's anxiety was connected to being isolated at the quarantine facility, Vergeire said: "Sa ngayon hindi pa po natin masabi kaya nga po dadalhin siya sa isang ospital kung saan may mga eksperto po kami, may mga psychiatrists that could assess the patient."

Meanwhile, another repatriate from China was also brought to Jose B. Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital in Pampanga after experiencing fever and ear pain.

The person tested negative for COVID-19 and was found to have outer ear infection.

"The patient has been brought back to the New Clark City to complete the 14-day quarantine procedure," Vergeire said.

Earlier this week, two other repatriates experienced diarrhea and abdominal discomfort. They tested negative for COVID-19 but also had to return to the quarantine facility.

Currently being quarantined in the New Clark City are 49 people: 30 repatriates from China, two Foreign Affairs advance team members, eight members of the government’s repatriation team, six plane crew members, and three ground crew operators. —NB, GMA News
