Cavite barangay chair, known as ‘most wanted’ drug lord in Calabarzon, killed in Naga buy-bust

A barangay chief in Cavite, considered the most wanted drug lord in the Calabarzon Region, was killed in a police operation in Naga City on Thursday.

Authorities identified the slain suspect as Bong Pangandag, barangay captain of Datu Esmael in Dasmariñas City, who allegedly engaged the police during a buy-bust operation.

Police said the suspect, who had been under police surveillance for a month, was the leader of the Pangandag drug group.

Police Colonel Marlon Santos, Cavite provincial police director, said Pangandag's death will have a huge impact on the flow of drugs entering Cavite via Datu Esmael.

Earlier this month, two barangay kagawads of Datu Esmael were arrested and eventually squealed on the whereabouts of the wanted local official.

The Cavite police is now conducting follow-up operation on the remaining members of the Pangandag drug group. — MDM, GMA News
