Cavite placed on community quarantine

Cavite will be placed under a community quarantine starting Tuesday midnight to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the province, Governor Jonvic Remulla announced Monday.

Remulla said an 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew will also be imposed.

Health care and local government workers, peace and order officers, and workers from the night shift with valid identification cards are exempted from the curfew.

Students who are undergoing on-the-job training will also no longer be required to report to their workplaces.

Malls will also be closed during the period of the community quarantine, while restaurants will only be allowed to accept take-home and delivery transactions.

Banks, groceries, supermarkets, pharmacies, pawn shops, hardware stores, public utility offices, bayad centers, and wet markets will be permitted to remain open.

Bazaars or tiangges, open dry goods markets, and sidewalk vending will no longer be permitted to operate.

All recreational establishments and public assemblies such as fiestas and parades will also be canceled, while religious assemblies “are strongly discouraged.”

“Needless loitering in the streets at any time of the day will be denied,” Remulla added.

Cavite joins several other areas across Luzon that have declared a state of calamity due to the COVID-19 threat.

The Philippines has 140 COVID-19 cases and 12 deaths due to the disease as of Sunday. -NB, GMA News
