PUI in Marawi dies while awaiting COVID-19 test result

A person under investigation (PUI) for possible coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection in Marawi City died Tuesday morning while awaiting the results of testing done on his samples.

Zia Alonto Adiong of the Bangsamoro Parliament confirmed that the fatality was one of the six patients being probed at the Amai Pakpak Medical Center, according to GMA News stringer Merlyn Manos.

“He participated [in] the Johor in Malaysia two weeks ago,” Adiong added.

Data released by the Lanao del Sur COVID-19 Surveillance Team show that one PUI has already been discharged after testing negative for the disease.

Meanwhile, there are a total of 90 persons under monitoring (PUM) in Lanao del Sur.

Eighty-eight of the PUMs are quarantined inside their homes while the remaining two are isolated at facilities.

The PUMs reside in Marawi City, Marantao, Calanogas, Ganassi, Saguiaran, Piagapo, Lumbayanague, Wao, and Amai-Manabilang.

The entire province of Lanao del Sur is under community quarantine from Tuesday, March 17, to April 14 as a preventive measure against the spread of COVID-19. —Merlyn Manos/Julia Mari Ornedo/LDF, GMA News
