Zamboanga City records first COVID-19 patient

Zamboanga Mayor Beng Climaco has announced on Tuesday evening that the city has recorded its first coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patient.

A 29-year-old single male or patient ZP01, flew in from Metro Manila and arrived in Zamboanga City the first flight on March 13, 2020.

Local health officials have started contact tracing from household companions to office workers, and co-passengers in the flight from Manila to Zamboanga.

He may have also visited a nearby barangay, his steps will be traced there too.

"Este enfermidad na COVID is very contagious. That's why we have been asking people to stay at home, say a prayer and quarantine as a family," said Climaco in the livestreaming of a press briefing.

She added there will be strict security in the periphery around the COVID-19 patient. --- BAP, GMA News
