Cainta sets up disinfection tents for market-goers

The municipality of Cainta in Rizal has set up disinfection tents at the entrance of one of their public markets to combat the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

In a Facebook post on Saturday, Cainta Mayor Kit Nieto shared photos of the tents at the Cainta Public Market which aims to decontaminate and sanitize locals before and after they enter the market.

"May misting nozzles na may sanitation chemicals sa loob para ma sanitize 'yung mga papasok.. gagawa din tayo nito sa karangalan market at sa parola," Nieto said.

According to a report by Mav Gonzales' on "24 Oras," the 22 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Cainta were suspected to contract the disease from public places since they had no prior interaction with previous cases.

Because of this, Cainta's local government made sure to put additional safety measures to prevent the spread of the virus.

A temperature check is imposed before market-goers can enter the tents. After spraying their hands with alcohol, the citizen will have to stay inside the tent for five seconds as disinfectant is sprayed all over the body.

To impose social distancing in the marketplace, only five people are allowed inside where only food and face masks are sold.

According to the mayor, they are also planning to put up tents at the Municipal Hall and at barrier points for people who pass through.

As of Saturday afternoon, the country has a total number of 1,075 cases, 68 deaths and 35 recoveries from COVID-19, according to the Department of Health.
