Senior citizens caught drinking, gambling in Bacoor, Cavite

Male residents, including senior citizens in Bacoor, Cavite were caught drinking and gambling amid the liquor ban under the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine.

According to Oscar Oida’s report on “24 Oras,” local authorities were patrolling the area when they saw the male residents drinking, while the senior citizens were gambling outside their houses.

The residents were also not observing safety protocols such as social distancing and wearing face masks.

Meanwhile, two other male residents were nabbed for drinking in front of a store.

Another male resident, on the other hand, yelled profanities at the police because he was too drunk.

According to Bacoor chief of police Police Lieutenant Colonel Vicente Cabatinga, those who were nabbed will face respective charges.

“Ang ginagawa namin is ay para sainyo. Ang dami pa rin talagang pasaway kahit sa umaga,” Cabatinga said.

“Ang hirap talaga sa part namin dahil ‘yong kulungan namin eh punong puno na. Padagdag nang padagdag lalo pa itong mga violation dito sa ECQ so napakahirap po sa part namin. Sana matulungan,” he added.

The Philippine National Police has recorded a total of 108,088 violators of the guidelines of the Luzon quarantine as of Monday.

According to the data from PNP deputy chief for operations and Joint Task Force COVID-19 Shield Police Lieutenant General Guillermo Eleazar, the highest number of violators were in Luzon with 64,946.
