Cebu sitio placed under quarantine after community transmission

The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday announced that Sitio Zapatera, Barangay Luz in Cebu City has been placed under quarantine to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the area.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said this came after Jaime Bernadas, the DOH Central Visayas Center for Health Development Regional Director, confirmed a community transmission of the virus.

According to a separate post by the Cebu City Public Information Office, 82 individuals have tested positive for the virus at Barangay Luz, the area where the sitio is located.

Vergeire, meanwhile, assured the public that the Health Department has begun coordinating with the local government of Cebu City to establish a community quarantine center.

On Friday, the DOH reported a total of 5,878 COVID-19 cases, 487 recoveries and 387 fatalities. -MDM, GMA News
