Remulla says AFP to assist in implementing ECQ in Cavite; cops to also enter subdivisions

Security forces from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) will assist in the implementation of the "vitamin-enriched" enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in Cavite, Governor Jonvic Remulla said on Tuesday.

"Ang vitamin-enriched ECQ ay kasama na ang ilang kawani ng AFP sa pagpapatupad nito," Remulla said in a Facebook post.

Remulla said security forces would be stricter in asking quarantine passes of residents in Cavite. He added that enforcing a stricter social distancing in public areas such as markets would also be observed.

Remulla said policemen would also enter subdivisions to ensure that residents are following the guidelines of the mandatory quarantine such as staying in their respective homes.

"Warning po sa mga miron, chismosa/chismoso, mga naglalaro ng basketball, wala po na-issue na chimis pass ang barangay," Remulla said.

He said local government officials, security forces and health officials would have a meeting regarding the vitamin-enriched quarantine.

On Monday, Remulla said he wanted members of the military to enforce the enhanced community quarantine in the province as there were residents who continue to violate rules.

He said he would talk to Interior Secretary Eduardo Año regarding the matter.

The Luzon-wide ECQ imposed to prevent the further spread of COVID-19 is in effect until April 30.

Meanwhile, Remulla also bared that after completing 80% of the testing of the persons under investigation in Cavite, only five percent were positive for COVID-19.

"Ang 2nd round of testing po ay mga critical medical staff sa lahat ng medical facility ng lalawigan. Sila po ang nakalagay sa panganib araw araw. Huwag po muna umangal. Darating po tayo sa lahat ng sektor sa tamang panahon," Remulla said.

As of April 17, there were 125 COVID-19 cases in Cavite, according to a Facebook post of the provincial government. —KG, GMA News
