Magalong locks down 5 Baguio City areas due to new COVID-19 cases

Mayor Benjamin Magalong has ordered an immediate lockdown of five areas in Baguio City after the local task force on COVID-19 reported eight new cases.

In his Memorandum Order 45 dated 25 April 2020, Magalong ordered the lockdown of the following areas:

  • Barangay Sto. Tomas Proper,
  • Barangay BGH Compound,
  • Barangay San Luis,
  • Sector 5, Brangay Dominican-Mirador; and
  • Woodsgate Subdivision, Camp 7.

He said the measure is aimed at facilitating complete and efficient contact-tracing and ensuring the safety of persons who may have come into contact with the cases.

Magalong also suspended the use of Home Quarantine Pass, advising residents  that in purchasing basic necessities they need to proceed to their satellite market or available rolling stores.

Baguio City had been cited for its effective management of cases, and response to the COVID-19 health emergency.

For 10 days in a row --from late March to Early April --the city had not recorded any new cases, and until then it only had 14 coronavirus infections. —LBG, GMA News
