Mocha Uson meets crowd of quarantined OFWs at Batangas resort

Deputy Administrator Mocha Uson of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration spoke before a crowd of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who were under quarantine in Batangas City.

The event happened amid the prohibition of mass gathering under the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.

“Kinumusta rin po natin ang kalagayan ng 322 OFWs natin sa Matabungkay, Lian, Batangas,” Uson said on Twitter.

Uson also shared photos of the event in her Facebook account.

OFWs who have been repatriated are required to undergo 14-day quarantine.

GMA News Online sought Uson's comment on the apparent mass gathering in Batangas but she has yet to respond as of posting time.

Luzon has been under enhanced community quarantine since March 16 to prevent COVID-19 transmission.

The national government banned mass transport, prohibited mass gatherings and imposed curfew hours, resulting in work stoppages in many industries.

The ECQ was initially slated to be lifted on April 13.

It has since been extended twice and is again scheduled to be lifted on May 15. -NB, GMA News
