By ANNA FELICIA BAJO,GMA News

Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla on Tuesday announced that the province would be placed under general community quarantine after May 15.

Remulla's remark came prior to the announcement of the national government regarding the lifting or extension of the enhanced community quarantine beyond May 15 in the National Capital Region and other areas.

"Nilahad na kahapon ng Malacañang na ang lalawigan ng Cavite ay isalalagay na sa GCQ umpisa ng May 16," Remulla said in a Facebook post.

According to Remulla, not all stalls will be opened in malls under GCQ. He also said Wifi services would not be available for customers visiting malls.

Restaurants will be allowed to operate but only for take-out services, Remulla said.

Remulla added that the construction industry would slowly resume its operations.

Meanwhile, Remulla said liquor ban is still in effect, however, he bared that mayors would still discuss policies regarding drinking and selling alcohol. He said it was earlier suggested that licenses would be given to allow the selling of alcoholic beverages.

Wearing a face mask is still mandatory, Remulla said.

Residents without quarantine passes will still not be allowed to go out, except if they will report to their respective jobs.

Remulla said curfew is still from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The governor, meanwhile, advised his constituents to wait for the guidelines of the national government regarding the operation of mass transportation.

COVID-19 testing

Remulla said targeted testing in Cavite would begin on Monday. He said medical frontliners would be prioritized, followed by Philippine National Police personnel, and relief workers.

Despite the development in the province, Remulla called on Cavite residents to continue observing proper health protocols.

"Alam ko na marami pa kayong katanungan. Hintayin po natin na makagawa ng hakbang ang ating gobyerno bago umangal," he said.

"Huwag muna mag-galak. Bagamat gumanda at umangat ang kakayahan natin, ang 2nd wave ng COVID ay siguradong dadating. Ipatupad pa rin Ang social distancing at good hygiene practices," Remulla added. — RSJ, GMA News
