Man in Aklan 'offering' P100M for Duterte's head arrested —police

A construction worker was arrested in Malay, Aklan on Tuesday for allegedly offering P100 million to anyone who could kill President Rodrigo Duterte.

Information from Malay Police Station on Wednesday identified the suspect as Ronald Quiboyen, 40.

Authorities said they received information about Quiboyen's supposed "seditious" Facebook post, which states:  "'Yong 50 milyon nyo doblihin ko, gawin kung 100 milyon kung sino makapatay kay Duterte nandito ako ngayon sa Boracay..."

Police said Boracay residents have shared Quiboyen's post.

At 3:30 p.m., police launched the operation against Quiboyen. They were able to locate and arrest the suspect at 7 p.m. at Sitio Hagdan in Barangay Yapak.

According to Malay police chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Pablito, authorities easily located the suspect because he had prior police record.

"May traffic violation 'yan last February 26 at na-record ng [patrolman] ang address niya," Pablito told GMA News Online.

"Hindi niya akalain matunton siya sa dami ng tao ng Boracay pero may prior record siya kaya na-locate namin. Otherwise, baka natagalan or nakapagtago pa siya," he added.

Quiboyen will be facing charges for alleged violation of Art. 142 of the Revised Penal Code (Inciting to Sedition).

Earlier, a public school teacher was also arrested by operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation for offering a P50-million reward to anyone who could kill Duterte. —LBG, GMA News
