Three Western Visayas police officers were relieved from their posts due to alleged violation of the liquor ban amid the strict quarantine in the region.

Information from the Western Visayas police on Monday stated that of the 29 liquor ban violators, three were uniformed personnel.

They were identified as Police Staff Sergeant Roy Panaguiton from Sebaste Municipal Police Station in Pandan, Antique; Police Corporal Arnie Luminario from Iloilo City Police Office; and Police Staff Sergeant Paul Pingoy who is assigned at the regional headquarters.

According to the Police Regional Office VI, criminal complaints for alleged violation of Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code as well as violations of Republic Act No. 11332 (Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act) and Republic Act No. 11469 (Bayanihan to Heal as One Act) were filed against the police officers.

The accused cops will also be facing administrative charges, police said.

Police said the three cops were arrested at quarantine control points on separate occasions while trying to transport alcoholic drinks despite the enhanced community quarantine.

Western Visayas police chief Police Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan vowed that PRO VI is serious in ensuring discipline among its personnel especially in this time of health crisis.

Pamuspusan said erring policemen have no place in PRO VI.

"Rest assured that our  personnel will continue to do its mandate as frontliners in this time of pandemic even as the region is now under general community quarantine," Pamuspusan said. —AOL, GMA News
