Cebu City logs 32 new COVID-19 infections

The number of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infections in Cebu City climbed to 1,814 on Thursday after the city health department recorded 32 new cases, majority of whom were from the Cebu City Jail.

The Cebu City Public Information, in a Facebook post, said 23 of the additional patients came from the Cebu City Jail, followed by two in Barangay Bulacao, and one case each from Barangays Capitol site, Mambaling, Sawang Calero, Suba, Ermita, Lahug, and San Nicolas.




The city government said most of the cases are asymptomatic.

Mayor Edgar Labella said he already ordered the transfer of asymptomatic patients to their respective barangay isolation centers.

Patients in the centers will be supervised by the officers of the Cebu City Health Department, he added.

So far, Cebu City has recorded a total of 114 recoveries.

Labella urged all residents to stay at home and follow safety protocols to prevent the spread of the illness.—AOL, GMA News
