Emergency responder in Quezon nabbed for allegedly using ambulance to deliver cake

A member of the emergency response team (ERT) of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office of Infanta, Quezon will face charges for allegedly using a local government ambulance to deliver a cake amid the general community quarantine in the area.

In a Facebook post, the provincial government of General Nakar, Quezon, said Rigel Pella used the ambulance to deliver a cake ordered from his wife to a resident of General Nakar.

Police manning the checkpoint said they saw the ambulance entering the border of General Nakar at around 11 a.m. on Thursday.

No patients were seen inside the ambulance and it did not have any emergencies to attend to in General Nakar, they said.

Aboard the ambulance being driven by Pella were passengers Lea Saula, Blesilda Ruanta and Alfie Ramirez, all members of the ERT and residents of Infanta.

Saula claimed that she, Ruanta and Ramirez told Pella they wanted to be dropped off at the checkpoint in General Nakar because they knew Pella's intentions were against quarantine protocols.

However, it was also reported that Pella evaded the checkpoint.

Pella allegedly questioned his arrest and even argued with the policemen at the checkpoint.

He was charged for unauthorized use of a service vehicle and is currently being investigated at the General Nakar Police Station. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
