COVID-19 CURE?

Cops seize medicines unregistered with FDA, nab 2 Chinese in Cavite

Two Chinese nationals were arrested during a raid in Bacoor, Cavite on Friday for possessing medicines supposedly to cure coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) that are not registered with the Food and Drug Administration, authorities said.

Cops identified the suspects as Zhixing Chen and Lingjie "Kira" Zhao. The other suspect, Achinglee Payoran Xu, remains at large.

An initial police investigation showed that authorities, armed with a search warrant,  raided a warehouse located inside the compound of Prime Pacific United Consortium, Inc. in Barangay Niog 2.

During the raid,  operatives seized from the suspects a total of 259,200 capsules of Lianhua Qingwen Jiaonang, which was allegedly used as medicine for COVID-19.

Police said the suspects hid the medicines inside the warehouse because they are not registered with the FDA.

The suspects will be facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9711 (Known as Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009) as amended by Republic Act 3720 in relation to Republic Act 11469 (Bayanihan to Heal as One Act).
