11 more students test positive for COVID-19 in Maguindanao

COTABATO - Eleven more students who returned to Maguindanao from Cebu has tested positive for COVID-19, the chief of the Maguindanao Provincial Hospital said on Tuesday.

The new confirmed cases brought to 12 the number of students who tested positive for the coronavirus after supposedly availing of Maguindanao's Balik-Probinsiya program.

“The results came out today, we were worried to test them immediately last Friday after three from the isolation facility suffered fever,” Dr. Elizabeth Samama said.

Samama said the first COVID-19 positive, a 22-year old student, has stayed in a separate isolation building. The rest are at another isolation area.

“We learned that some of the students came from a place where there is a local transmission of COVID-19," Samama said.

"We are just lucky enough we had not let them go directly to their home upon arrival, had we let that happened, it would be a disaster," she added. -NB, GMA News
