600 stranded Bicolanos finally homebound after weeks under lockdown

Around 600 Bicolanos are expected to finally head home  after being stranded in Metro Manila for weeks due to the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine.

According to Darlene Cay's report on "24 Oras," one of them is Jennifer Aguila who was supposed to start a new job.  However, she was informed that her future workplace had closed down.

"Mahirap po 'yung buhay po dito kung dito po ako abutan ng panganak kasi po 'yung pamilya ko po nasa probinsya," Aguila, who is on her eighth month of pregnancy, said.

She thanked the Albay provincial government and the Redemptorist Church in Paranaque for working to facilitate their return to the province.

"Nagpapasalamat po kami sa programa nila na natulungan po nilang makauwi 'yung mga stranded na pasahero po, na mga taga probinsya po dito sa Maynila," she said.

Mike Garbida, meanwhile, detailed the hardships he experienced the past three months.

"Eh, wala na hong makain doon sa amin. Nag-gugulay-gulay na lang po kami doon. Kung ano makita namin pwede gulayin, ginulay na lang namin. Walang budget, walang pera. Kaya gusto na namin umuwi," Garbida said.

The Bicolanos were given health certificate, travel pass and other pertinent documents before travelling home. —Joahna Lei Casilao/LDF, GMA News
