Bataan opens COVID-19 testing center

The local government of Bataan has launched its own testing center for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), Governor Albert Garcia announced Thursday.

In a Facebook post, Garcia said the province’s new polymerase chain reaction laboratory is located inside the Bataan General Hospital and Medical Center.

Garcia said the testing center is capable of conducting up to 250 tests per day and produce results in two to three days.

“Layunin nating kaagad na matukoy ang mga posibleng positibo sa COVID-19 nang sa ganoon, sila ay ma-isolate kaagad sa kanilang komunidad at mabigyan ng kinakailangang atensyong medikal,” he said.

As of Wednesday, Bataan has recorded a total of 164 cases of COVID-19, including 141 recoveries and 10 deaths.

Nationwide, cases of the illness reached 24,175 on Thursday, with 1,036 fatalities and 5,165 recoveries. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
