Lapu-Lapu City mayor tests positive for COVID-19

Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard "Ahong" Chan on Friday confirmed that he has contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

In a Facebook post, Chan said he got infected despite his "best efforts" to prevent it.

"Usbon ko, nag POSITIBO ako sa CoVid-19," Chan said.

Chan however said he is eager to speed up his recovery, as he thanked his constituents for their prayers.

The Lapu-Lapu City mayor also assured them that they have nothing to worry about his situation, as it is part of his responsibility "as a father" of the city.

Chan said he will continue his work through virtual meetings and through social media. --Jamil Santos/KBK, GMA News
