Several persons of interest eyed in killing of woman in Laguna

Police have identified more than four persons of interest in the killing of 34-year-old Jang Lucero, a driver who was found dead with multiple stab wounds inside her car in Calamba City in Laguna on Sunday night.

According to Darlene Cay’s report on “24 Oras” on Wednesday, Calamba City police chief Lieutenant Colonel Gene Licud said the victim most likely knew the killer or killers personally.

He said witnesses have also come forward.

“Ang sinasabi nila ay nakita raw nila ‘yong sasakyan so pinapatunayan nila ‘yong theory namin na tatlo o higit pa ‘yong gumawa noon,” Licud said.

He added they are considering the possibility that Lucero's murder was a crime of passion.

“May mga common friends sila and it appears na ito kakilala, kung hindi man ito kakilalang eksakto, mayroong mga kilala doon sa biktima na siya naman ang nag-utos dito doon sa mga sumakay,” Licud said.

Lucero left home late Sunday night, saying she was hired by four people to drive them to Metro Manila.

According to her kin, Lucero had been moonlighting as driver using her own car ever since she lost her job due to the community quarantine being implemented amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lucero’s body was found with more than 50 stab wounds inside her car, which was parked on Bypass Road in Laguna. Police said none of her belongings was missing.

Earlier, police found a bag with two cell phones near the road where they found Lucero’s body. One of the phones had no battery.

Licud said the Philippine National Police is still investigating whether they are connected with the crime.

“Dahil nga ito’y plinano, ito ay pupuwedeng sinadyang iwan para lansingin ang mga imbestigador natin kapag nasimulan na ang imbestigasyon,” he said. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
