Cebu City’s COVID-19 cases surpass 6,000 with 152 new infections

Cebu City on Sunday announced 152 new cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), raising the total to 6,142. 

The Cebu City Health Department (CHD) also said total recoveries rose to 3,233 after 90 more patients recovered from the respiratory illness, while the death toll climbed to 221 with one new fatality.

The CHD said there are also 2,688 active cases undergoing treatment or quarantine.

Cebu City still has the highest number of infections nationwide, followed by Quezon City with 3,707 cases as of Saturday morning.

Across the country, COVID-19 has sickened a total of 44,254 people and claimed 1,297 lives.  — Julia Mari Ornedo/BM, GMA News
