Barangay 23-C in Davao City placed under hard lockdown due to COVID-19 cases

The city government of Davao City placed Barangay 23-C under hard lockdown starting Saturday due to the number of COVID-19 cases in the area, according to a report on Tuesday by Rgil Relator of GMA Regional TV-One Mindanao on GMA News' Unang Balita.

The barangay has the highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the city, with 88 infections as of July 4.

The lockdown would be in effect for a minimum of 14 days.

Even frontliners, police, soldiers and nurses could not get in and out of the barangay.

Those who want to buy food or go to work could not leave the barangay as well.

"We can say na it is a very high risk na area, based sa ating risk assessment sa maps natin. And we advise everyone to avoid going to that area for whatever reason, trabaho man o hindi," Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte said.
