Two killed, four wounded as roadside bomb hits police car in Maguindanao


COTABATO CITY - A policeman and a civilian driver were killed after a roadside bomb exploded and hit a police car in Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao on Thursday evening.

Police Colonel Arnold Santiago said the explosion occurred in a dark road area around 8:30 p.m. about 300 meters before policemen reached the provincial police headquarters.

Santiago alleged that the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) were behind the explosion. Earlier, policemen killed a teenaged sniper and trained bomber who is a nephew of Kumander Bungos of the terror group.

There were four other persons were reported wounded in the incident.

Among those on board the car is the chief of police of Shariff Aguak town, Police Major Erwin Tabora.

The explosion site was also the same area where a bomb exploded and hit a police car in 2017 which killed police personnel. Investigation is ongoing. -- BAP, GMA News
