Deceased male is Tarlac town's first COVID-19 case

The municipality of San Clemente in Tarlac has reported its first case of COVID-19.

In a Facebook post on Sunday, the San Clemente government said the 57-year-old male patient already died on Friday.

“A 57-year old male from Barangay Catagudingan, who passed away two days ago, is the first reported COVID-19 case in the municipality,” it said.

According to the municipal government, the COVID-19 patient died prior to the release of his confirmatory test.

“He was admitted in a private hospital, and was swabbed after he was found positive through Rapid Test. His confirmatory swab test result was released today,” it said.

Due to this, the San Clemente government advised residents to strictly follow health protocols such as wearing of face masks and observing social distancing.

The municipal contact tracing team is now looking for all persons who have been in contact with the patient. It also advised them to seek immediate medical attention if they show symptoms.

Mayor Elma L. Macadamia, who is also the chair of Municipal Anti-COVID-19 Task Force, will issue stricter guidelines through an Executive Order to control the possible spread of the virus.

As of Sunday, the provincial government of Tarlac recorded a total of 49 COVID-19 cases with 37 recoveries and eight fatalities. —Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA News
