Bulacan Governor Daniel Fernando tests positive for COVID-19


Bulacan Governor Daniel Fernando announced on Saturday that he tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

According to Sam Nielsen’s report on Super Radyo dzBB, Fernando said that he would not be making any public appearances while undergoing a 14-day quarantine.

Despite this, he assured the public that operations of the provincial government and its services would continue as he would use technology for work.

Fernando said he took the swab test on Friday, August 28 and he received his RT-PCR tests on Saturday morning.

The governor said he was “in high spirits” and was not experiencing any symptoms.

He may have acquired the illness through a board member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan during previous activities. The board member had also tested positive for the virus.

Fernando had ordered the Provincial Health Office to conduct contact tracing efforts.

The Philippine has a total of 213,131 COVID-19 cases with 135,101 recoveries and 3,419 fatalities. — DVM, GMA News News
