Tagaytay opening its doors to tourists —city administrator

Tagaytay City now welcomes tourists who would like to visit the place under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) status, City Administrator Gregorio Monreal said Saturday.

Interviewed on Dobol B sa News TV, he said, however, that tourists should follow minimum COVID-19 health standards -- including physical distancing, and wearing of face masks.

“Yung mga gustong pumunta sa Tagaytay ay hindi natin puwedeng mapigilan, welcome sila sa atin pero kailangan nilang sumunod sa minimum public health standard,” he said.

“Bagamat ang ating guidelines ay nasa quarantine protocols pa rin tayo, pero yung mga gustong pumunta sa Tagaytay ay hindi natin mapipigilan,” he added.

According to him, checkpoints at entry points to Tagaytay swill be maintained.

“Sa mga pupunta sa amin (sa Tagytay) ay hindi na namin inoobliga (ang travel pass) ang kailangan lang ay mag-fill out ng health declaration forms,” Monreal said.

In a memorandum dated September 1, Tagaytay City Mayor Agnes Tolentino issued guidelines for establishments, offices, businesses, transportation, religious groups, churches, and barangays.

Tolentino said all establishments permitted to operate are required to adhere to the health standards and protocols to protect their workers and guests.

Hotels are allowed to operate only up to 50 percent of their capacity upon securing  clearance or accreditation from the Department of Tourism.

Private vehicles travelling to and from Tagaytay will be allowed provided that physical distancing is observed inside the vehicle, Tolentino added.

“The Tagaytay City Oval and the Skateboard and BMX tracks shall be opened daily from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. only,” Tolentino said, noting that only up to 50 percent capacity of these amusement areas. —Joviland Rita/LBG, GMA News
